8. The Principal Difference
The principal difference between pain and love is that
pain hurts while it lasts.
That the principal difference is occasionally the principal
similarity is no news to anyone who has sat through a
reluctant staging of Romeo and Juliet or, for that matter,
to anyone who’s fallen in love with a poet, revolutionary,
carpenter, accountant, or almost any locksmith.
