29. The Hawk and The Canary
The hawk is a shrewd descendant of a canary that learned
the hard way not to lend money.
The American Bald Eagle, our national bird, has devised
a new kind of credit system that allows it to borrow vast
sums of money from itself when it’s penniless, all without
fear of answering to creditors. Our bird’s innovation is
expected to be made available to all Americans just as soon
as members of the President’s Commission on Featherhead
Economics complete a report that can fly circles around
common sense without landing.
